Hello! I’m Jen. I am an attorney by day and a real estate agent, writer and blogger by night. My latest phrase is “the spirit be knowing!” This phrase is a nod to listening to the voice within and following your intuition.
My Path to Law
Actually, that’s how I was lead to law. I wanted to be a physician initially. I loved science! I majored in Biology and everything. During graduate school, I started to consider law school as I discovered other interests. I also felt like the Universe was leading me in that direction. I had been rejected from medical school again. At the same time, I was growing increasingly interested in utilizing policy to address racial and ethnic disparities. I applied to law school and was accepted literally the next week with fifty percent of my tuition paid for with a scholarship. The spirit be knowing! The rest is history, well actually the rest is unfolding. I’m figuring out this practice of law. I’m currently a government attorney.
The Story is Still Being Written
Interestingly enough, after I started practicing law, I realized I really enjoy writing. I write poetry, short stories and think pieces. I have no idea what I’ll be doing five years from now. I don’t know what type of law I’ll be practicing or if I’ll be practicing. I hope to have published some books in five years. I don’t know where I’ll end up in real estate. I have a lot of I don’t know and that’s ok.
I know I intend to join the F.I.R.E. community. F.I.R.E. stands for Financial Independence Retire Early or Retire to Entrepreneurship. In my short two years practicing law, I realized that I want to practice on my own terms. I know that requires financial freedom. Please join me as I figure it out!
